This summer, I qualified as a Naturopathic Nutritionist (BANT registered) from The College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM). This might sound surprising as I graduated 30 years ago in Belgium as a fully qualified Dietician. After my graduation, I worked for 2 years in the Academic Hospital in Antwerp (Belgium) at the Department of Endocrinology under the watchful eye of Prof. De Leeuw.
Meanwhile I set up a successful private practice which I sold to another Belgian dietician when I moved to the UK 25 years ago. I then married an Englishman and brought up 3 children while having a sales job. As the children started getting older, I decided it was time to go back to my passion!
I realised I had to retrain as a dietician or a nutritionist because science moves on... This turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made in a long time.
I’m so pleased I decided to retrain as a Nutritionist! I love its holistic approach and it making me understand the interaction of food on the different bodily systems. I hope to pass on this knowledge to many people through the workshops, cooking demos, pop-up restaurant and the private one-to-ones!
Sofie’s Fresh Food actually started in my childhood. My mother cooked (without fail) Fresh Food every day!
As children, my sister, brother and I never missed school and always had a lot of energy (apart from a few childhood diseases).
That makes you think as an adult! ‘It must have been in the nutrition of my mother’s Fresh Food!’ There was no science behind it for her but it worked for all of us... Simple, delicious, healthy food full of nutrients!
The Nutrition course at CNM gave me confirmation again to understand the power of Fresh Food! Fresh Food is delicious, brings people together and gives us the right balance of nutrients that synergistically work well with our body and mind.
My recipes are mainly vegetarian but I have some fish and meat dishes as well.

The cooking demos are like a Live Cookbook. Delicious and Nutritious recipes prepared in front of you, tasted by you and then (hopefully) prepared by you! I will be explaining the benefit of each dish whilst preparing them. This is a fun event from which you will pick up many great tips about nutrition and cooking.
I started working together with Sally from BerkhamstedYoga. We organise workshops and retreats together. Yoga and Nutrition go hand in hand! I also organise Nordic Walking and Fresh Food events with Hil Warrell. Hil is a very experienced Nordic Walking coach who knows the Chiltern Hills inside out. She will take you on public footpaths you have never been before while talking about local history and making sure you have the correct walking style. After the walk, you will be invited to my kitchen for a short Fresh Food talk and a lovely, light 3-course lunch.
I started a pop-up restaurant in the autumn of 2018 at The Red Lion in Marsworth. The first one was a vegetarian pop-up and everyone enjoyed it a lot. I might organise pop-ups with some fish or meat dishes so keep an eye on the Instagram and Facebook accounts!
In October 2018, I qualified as a Naturopathic Nutritionist from The College of Naturopathic Medicine. I started 1:1 consultations from January 2019 to help anyone with health problems like acne, eczema, psoriasis, migraine, thyroid, overweight, anxiety, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Diabetes Type2, PCOS etc. The recommended lifestyle and diet will be personalised with added recipes.
I am fully insured and BANT registered.
